Pagodas
This project was my first appliscape attempt after inheriting my mom’s embroidery machine. She had thousands of patterns to look through. I love Asian art and culture so I had a feeling she was going to make this for me eventually. While I was making it, I pictured each member of my family having their own pagoda. My sister loves birds so the Heron house was inspired by her. My mother loved the color blue, especially cobalt, so the Geisha house was her’s. To honor my mom I always have an element in my work that celebrates her favorite color. When we were growing up my dad had vegetable garden so Bonsai for him. Finally, the Peacock house was for me and features my favorite color green. I love when I can include special details with color and fabric choice.
Complete Village size is 15” x 28”. Individual buildings measure 15” x 7”. Framing is not included.
